David's
own report from the 20/21
August meeting at Cadwell Park
Cadwell
is a track I enjoyed riding in 2004 on the Aprilia 125.
Friday practice saw a wet set of sessions for most
classes. Saturday was dry. Qualifying went well and
I secured second place on the grid behind James Wainwright on
the Kawasaki. The lap times were already close to the
record.
Saturday's
Superpole race was eight laps. James and I cleared off
along with Leo Aldesy a few seconds behind. I broke the
lap record but could only manage second place just 0.06secs
behind Wainwright.
Again
Sunday was dry and hot with two 12 lap races ahead of us.
It was a three way battle between Wainwright, Aldesy and
myself. Mid race saw Leo crash in a big way at the Gooseneck
chicane, straight into the path of my FZR.. This allowed
Wainwright to disappear to a comfortable victory with me second
a huge 16 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack.. Before Leo
came off he broke my lap record.
In
the last race I got a terrible start from the front row.
Wainwright got a break but through the 12 lap race I reeled him
in. For the closing four laps I was lining him up but a
mistake when trying to pass had me off and into the gravel
trap. In spite of that I got my lap record back!
